VOTE — New Prusa Core L 3D Printer - $2,412.71

Hi Hive13!

After lots of discussions about 3D printing we are looking to add one Prusa Core L Printer and adapt it later with the new Index 3D printer heads to allow for a very large range of multi color this would have our printer be able to print in 8 different colors or filament types.

This printer comes with an optional camera to add on the printer to view over time or record slow Mo videos, this is included.

The printer will come with 3 different bed sheets PEI, TXT, SAT

PEI → best for PLA

TXT → Best for PETG

SAT → Universal

Please look at the pricing sheet.: Prusa 3D Printer Hive13 - Google Sheets

  1. Prusa:
    • Fully offline capable

    • ~300 × 300 × 330 mm

  2. Bambu:
    • More cloud-dependent ecosystem

    • ~256 × 256 × 256 mm

This vote does not include the price of the index.

From the previous conversations about the Raise3D I will try to get two in service. The quality of the prints is not as good and not as fast as the bambu or the Prusa. That still being said ill work on having two up and will teach anyone who wants to use them. My goal if that they will also be used for more batch printing instead of rapid prototyping as that’s what they are designed for.

I would love to answer any questions of people who weren’t able to make it to the meetings/discussions. Happy printing!

This looks really cool and adds neat new functionality to the 3d printing area. I don’t hate the idea of having a prusa as well so people can see how they feel about the differences.

Ryan did bring up an interesting point last week, why not add the index to the vote, since that is the thing that sets it apart from everything else? Even if we can’t get it, having the cash set aside to pull the trigger when they are available again makes sense.

If full fledged reviews come out to say it was overhyped before we can get our hands on one, we could simply not spend the money. Spending less than we agree on a vote is easy. Spending more is difficult. And given that the index is the major selling point, and sells out in a matter of hours in the current climate… I’d say we shoot for it.

But I’m also someone that can accept the Bambu/iPhone walled garden if everything just works.

I like the idea of being able to wriggle out of the walled garden.

Also, Ryan’s (via WillB) point about the index makes sense to me.

UPDATE - not sure people realized this is the vote thread, and should close tonight. I’ve updated the thread title to make it clear.

As it currently stands I’m going to vote yes for this.

I don’t know how it works if we can add additional spending to a vote. If we can the breakdown is as listed:

The addition of multi head is 699 w/ out (tax and shipping)

So the total of this would be $3111 so let’s say it’s $3200. For the full system.

If we can add additional spending I’d vote yes for this.

But as to Ryan’s point these aren’t on the market and will get bought up very quickly.

I vote yes
