the mysterious case of the expanding battleships

I have 3D printed a lot of battleships on the gigabot in the last few weeks. On the most recent print, they came out slightly oversized. Runaway military budgets could be to blame…however, this was the same gcode file used previously.

I ran a quick test print on the gigabot. My 15x15cm square came out as 15.4x15.4.

I’m not going to start mucking around with the steps/mm tonight…does anyone know why this issue is appearing?

Sounds like you missed the last ECN from the project office at the shipyard.

Sounds like someone might have been playing with the steps per mm setting or simply adjusting for ABS… ABS contracts when printed and it might be that the model was generated with those tolerances in mind.
