i put in a new (to the hive) box as the firewall. it's running DHCP
for the whole network, including the wifi, and i disabled DHCP on the
linksys so it's been relegated to only bridging the wired and wireless
networks and should hopefully not require as many reboots.
i also disabled all the routing and other services on the westell
modem so it's just a bridge as well. for whatever reason, this
disables the "internet" light, even though the firewall box and the
networks behind it connect to the internet just fine.
i tested the wired and wireless networks and they connect fine.
please let me know if you have any issues or applications that require
ports opened.
