National Dish Cooking Night

Oh hi Hive folk,
Years ago it came to my attention that there's a "national dish list" on Wikipedia.
Being someone who enjoys eating, cooking, and learning about other cultures, this made my food nerd senses tingle.
My husband and I were gung ho to cook our way through the list, and then got busy with life and such.
But the national dish list has always been in the back of my head.
So. I had a thought. There's a kitchen at the hive. Maybe other people would also be interested in trying to make food that they're unfamiliar with and seeing if it tastes good. Worst case scenario, I set a day aside each month to actually make these things. Best case scenario, I don't have to do it all myself.

Thanks. Meant to add that haha

This sounds great.

That sounds delightful.
I like that you wrote your email like a poem.
So I am replying in poem form.
And now I am hungry.
Dammit…

Have you ever eaten Fufu? It’s the national dish of several African countries. Good stuff. There is a good fufu restaurant on Route 4 just north of I-275. If you go in there the other customers will ask you why you are there… while you are sitting there eating…

Yay! I'm glad there's some interest! It's funny, I hadn't been intentionally trying to make it sound poetic, but that's cool haha
I have never had fugu but I'm certainly intrigued now!!

Wow. I meant fufu. My phone autocorrected.

The fat kid in me sees this and dances. The adult me saw this link on the page and danced:

Oh trust me, I also have that bookmarked as well haha

…that was redundant. I really need to proofread.
I actually have a spreadsheet that has the national dish(es) as well as a national drink. If it wasn’t on that list, then I just looked up what a common drink was. Usually it ended up being tea. I plan on looking back over it to make sure each country has a non alcoholic option as well, because I don’t think that’s the case right now

This thread got me hankering for Senegalese last night. Fortunately we’ve got a place in Northside. I had dibi. It was delicious.
