The first one is the same LED strip, with one exception. It is provided uncoated in a removable silicone sleeve, rather than with a poured epoxy coating. The epoxy coating is certainly more aesthetically pleasing, but I’ve found removing it while segmenting or repairing the strips to be extremely annoying.
The second is the bare strip with no coating at all. Both are slightly cheaper than the epoxy coated package.
The box arrived at my door this morning. I haven’t even counted the parts yet.
I’m unlikely to be at the Hive today, but I’ll bring the LEDs down sometime before the weekend. If anyone wants to make arrangements to receive their LEDs prior to next week’s meeting, feel free to email me directly. I live five minutes from the Hive, so it’s often convenient for me to drop in briefly en route to other places.
I’ll be around this afternoon and evening, and again several times this weekend working on some personal projects. The strips will be locked away when I’m not down here to distribute them.
Adafruit has an excellent guide and supporting library available. If you intend to drive these strips with Arduino, It should contain everything you need to get started.
