Hive13 Sign for Outside

Some of you may have seen that I have been working on a new large Hive13 sign for outside. Anyone who is interested is welcome to help out with it.

Remaining work:

  • Sand down drips and streaks on back
  • Additional coat of epoxy on back and edges (1:1 mix by volume, stir 5 minutes, ~45 minute working time, wait 24 hours before any additional work)
  • Sand down drips and streaks off front
  • Additional coat of epoxy on letter edges (1:1 mix by volume, stir 5 minutes, ~45 minute working time, wait 24 hours before any additional work)
  • Sand smooth all over
  • Paint black all over (2-3 coats, paint above flammables)
  • Paint HIVE letters white (2-3 coats, paint above flammables)
  • Paint 13 hex recesses yellow (2-3 coats, paint above flammables)
  • Build french cleat hanger system for hanging outside
  • Coat hanger system with epoxy
  • Hang sign outside
  • Figure out lighting (optional stretch goal)
Please don’t hesitate to jump in and help, all efforts are welcome! Just post here saying what work you did, particularly if it was another coat of epoxy so the next person knows how long the last layer has been curing.

Thanks,

(old pic, currently has one coat of epoxy all over and is sitting on saw horses between the two big new tables)

I sanded the back tonight, it's ready for the next epoxy coat.

I epoxied the back of it earlier today. Be warned, I also epoxied the drop cloth around it a little.

Thanks, and I have done the same every time, haha
