Hello Hivers!
We have a rather large arcade cabinet in the Hive13 Hackerspace that was from a project that was started in 2010 and now that we are approaching the end of 2011 it is apparent that this project needs a swift kick to get it finished up. So I volunteered this project as the first project in a push to get all of the outstanding Hive projects completed or moved out of the space. This is also going to be a test on better group collaborations. The goal is not only to build an amazing arcade unit for the space but also to develop a method to easily allow people to join, participate and pick up where others leave off on projects.
The arcade cabinet stand itself holds up to three players. The goal is to allow the cabinet to support as many games as possible and to be modular so future members can easily play, add to it and perhaps even make the controls modular. I will provide weekly status updates to the mailing list and when milestones are reached we will post to the blog as well. Our first objective is to decide what our milestones will be and what our supply list should be. Also any ideas on better ways to collaborate as a team that maybe picking up on the project in passing. Any and all feedback is welcome but please direct them to the Hive13-arcade mailing list mentioned above.
