What is the annual meeting?

The Hive13 annual meeting is a time in which we celebrate another year of incredible making at the Hive. Typically, the annual meeting consists of two distinct parts: election results and the potluck.

Election

If you’re interested in getting more involved with the Hive, this is a great place to do so. If you have passionate ideas for the future of the organization, we’d love to have you in leadership!

Hive13’s elections are conducted electronically. If you are a member in good standing, ballots will be sent out via e-mail on September 6th, 2026. The Election Committee, made up of volunteer non-conflicted members, is responsible for tallying the votes and delivering the election results as the first part of the annual meeting. Per current bylaws, we must reach a quorum of fifty percent (50%) of the Members who have badged into Hive13 in the 90 days prior to the publication of the electronic vote on September 6th. An educated guess at that number is VERY ROUGHLY 90-100 votes - we can’t determine the exact number until September 6th when we run the query. If we have hit quorum by the annual meeting, we will verify results and announce them at the meeting. If we have not hit quorum, the vote will stay open until we do so don’t forget to vote!

We are currently accepting nomination candidates. The window for nominations will close on September 5th, 2026. The current leadership positions up for election and the current nominees as of 9/5/26 at 9PM:

  • 7 positions on the Board of Directors

    • Julia Gomien
    • Ryan Hershey
    • Cade Karrenberg
    • Jeni Saaraswath
    • Shawn Steward
    • Dave Velzy
    • Shannon Zambetti
  • 6 Elected Officers:

Potluck

Members are encouraged to bring anything that they’d like, whether it be homemade or store bought. A separate Discourse and Slack thread will be created for a headcount of who’s bringing what.

We hope you join us in the celebration—and don’t forget to vote!

Thanks,

Chris Davis
President, Hive13

I am using this thread to officially nominate member Joe Bohache for the position of Hive13 Treasurer in the coming term.

I am also announcing that I will be stepping down from my position as the current Hive13 Treasurer at the end of this current term. I will not accept nomination for Treasurer in the coming term.

My hope is that Joe will accept his nomination. He and I have (and are) working well together in the long-anticipated transition from legacy spreadsheet accounting to new-and-improved RAMP/QBO accounting. I will offer my ongoing support to Joe into the future. I am confident he will serve Hive13 well and maintain Hive13’s strong financial standing.

With his permission, I nominate Chris Davis for the position of Hive13 President. He’s done a great job the past two years leading us through a period of a lot of growth, including expansion into the dungeon, a boom in membership, and the finance transition.

Subject: Hive13 Annual Election 2026

If you have not received your ballot, please email elections@hive13.org and they will get you sorted out asap.

There are several questions after the ballot to get feedback from the membership. This year it includes questions from the Education Committee to gauge interest in what classes members are interested in. Answering these questions is not required, and member information will be redacted to keep your responses anonymous.

There will be a thread posted this week to plan the Hive13 Annual Meeting and Potluck, stay tuned and don’t forget to vote!
