Hive13 2025 Annual Meeting

On July 26, 2025, we will be holding the Hive13 Annual Meeting.

What is the annual meeting?

The Hive13 annual meeting is a time in which we celebrate another year of incredible making at the Hive. Typically, the annual meeting consists of two distinct parts: election results and the potluck.

Election

If you’re interested in getting more involved with the Hive, this is a great place to do so. If you have passionate ideas for the future of the organization, we’d love to have you in leadership!

Hive13’s elections are conducted electronically. If you are a full time member, ballots are being sent out via e-mail on July 18, 2025. The Election Committee, made up of volunteer non-conflicted members, is responsible for tallying the votes and delivering the election results as the first part of the annual meeting. Per current bylaws, we must reach a quorum of at least 50% of members voting which is 140 at this time for election results to be finalized. If we have hit quorum by the annual meeting, we will verify results and announce them at the meeting. If we have not hit quorum, the vote will stay open until we do so don’t forget to vote!

We are currently accepting nomination candidates. The window for nominations will close on July 18, 2024. The current leadership positions up for election:

  • 5 positions on the Board of Directors

  • 6 Elected Officers:

    • President
    • Secretary
    • Treasurer
    • Chief Membership Officer
    • Chief Technical Officer
    • Chief Operations Officer

Think you or someone you know would make a great Hive13 leader? Nominate yourself or them (with their permission) in this thread!

Bylaw Amendments are Proposed.

  • Five Hive13 members have endorsed these proposed amendments for inclusion in the annual meeting vote. Chris Davis, Dave Velzy, Brad Walsh, Max Rush, and Jackson Buraczewski
  • Summary of Bylaw Changes
    • Grammar, Punctuation, and Spelling
    • Expand the number of members involved in Leadership. Change the number of Directors from five (5) to seven (7). Remove the ability to serve as dual role, both as officer and director because this reduces the number of members serving as leadership.
    • Revise the definition of quorum for a vote of the membership from 50% of members to 50% of those members having badged into Hive13 in the last 90 days. Note: All members are included in the electronic voting process. This change will reduce the total number of total votes required to be cast or abstained to record a valid vote.
    • Clarified language about Calling meetings and Remote Attendance to meetings. Physical presence is not required for a Vote of the membership and all voting is to be conducted on line. Set new timeline for Meeting notifications.
    • Removed obsolete wording limiting wardens to eight.
    • Provide for longer term appointment of directors and officers nominated by the membership to fill vacancies through resignation, termination or abandonment.

Potluck

Members are encouraged to bring anything that they’d like, whether it be homemade or store bought. A separate Discourse and Slack thread will be created for a headcount of who’s bringing what.

TL;DR

  • Annual meeting date: Saturday, July 26th, 2025 at 3 pm
  • Ballots being sent to e-mails on: July 18, 2024

We hope you join us in the celebration—and don’t forget to vote!

Thanks,

Chris Davis
President, Hive13

I’d like to nominate Vince Linz for the position of Secretary. Vince has stepped in several times to do the work in the past and he would be great in the position!

I’d like to nominate Caiden Riggers as CMO. With Jackson vacating the seat after this term, I feel Caiden is level headed and relatable to many hive members and already does a lot with the relations committee.

I’d like to nominate myself for a board position.
I have enjoyed this year so far and I’d like to help get the Hive to continue to move forward as we expand.

I accept this nomination

I accepy this nomination.

I would like to self-nominate for COO, again.
