Hi! I wanted to share with you this hackerspace crowdfunding project!

Hey! I wanted to tell everyone about a new project I am involved in, we wanted to help print the largest North American 3d print, and we are going to help by printing leafychains, a biodegradable PLA key-chain accessory that you can purchase at the USD $20 donation level.

We need your help! Do you know of anyone that can help write a blog on our campaign, or do you know of someone who is interested in working with large scale 3d printed technology? Are you a designer and you are looking for a way to rapid-prototype a large-scale object?

For many people we believe this will be their first time interacting with a 3d printed object, and the concept of being able to show this to your friends from your keychain, is one that we believe is an effective and powerful tool for the exposure of personal desktop manufacturing technology.

The Rygo is an interactive 3d printed design created by Bathesba Grossman (of iMaterialise fame), it will be printed on the D-shape (the world’s largest 3d printer!), and you can control the lighting in real-time using an iphone app or through the computer. It is one of the coolest projects I have ever been a part of, and I want to help get the word out to hackerspaces and tech groups, because I believe that by wearing our Buildatron “leafychain” keychain prints, you can help promote 3d printer technology and generate interest among your friends, your family, and your colleagues, who might not yet know of this amazing technology.
