Clusterfuck hip hip hooray.
We always figure it out. Keep your eyes on the mailing list, I guess.
Dustin suggested just claiming to be part of the PTDR, I think I’m just going to be sneaking in, or pointing to the T-Shirt, but yes, a little more co-ordination would be nice.
If anything the bands will likely be issued tomorrow morning as everyone checks in for the Maker Faire. I would highly recommend that you just say you are with the hive as they know we have multiple locations around the fair and if everyone says they’re with power tool drag racing it would seem quite odd. The people today that I interacted with were more than knowledgeable about the hive having multiple booths.
Sorry to be clear I signed up for PTDR, at 9am tomorrow, which is why he was suggesting that I say I was there for PTDR. You’re correct, people you say which part they’re with.
Gotcha I have not looked at the list yet as there are a few of us that basically do it start to finish each day and try to make hardware runs as well as to the hive to grab little things left behind. Thank you for doing the ptdr we my wife and I will likely be there a little after 9 something grabbing little things we left behind. Seek out Jim Dallam when you get there or Brad Walsh. They will be able to give you a quick run down of how it goes. It is easy, fun to see how pumped the kids get, but just a little manual labor.
I have that round red bull cooler from speed way. We will have water there for the volunteers so you don’t need to worry about that. It will be a fun weekend!!!
Thanks Kevin. Yeah, Brad talked me into it, being new I wasn’t sure the best place to go to help out, but I can do returns for the racers pretty easy. I’ve signed up for half the day, but I might be able to get a bit more, really depends on how tired my wife is feeling. I also grabbed a T-shirt based on Dustin’s suggestion, if that’s not okay, I can return it. I’ll see you down there. I think we’ve talked a couple of times at meetings, and I’ve chatted with your father at length.
Did you grab a tool racing shirt or a hive shirt? I was looking for the wristbands for people with the ptdr waiver to race and ptdr shirts however have come up empty. I am swinging by the hive in the am so any info or things left behind please let me know. Here is the list of things to find as well things I got to bring.
…Things to find and bring…
Applied science signs and zip ties.
Pro mod racers including the toaster and parts.
Battery charger.
Blades, hardware, and tools for racers.
Bring Brad back his pants
Possibly locate wrist bands for public racing.
…Things we have for sure…
Waivers for the racers of tools.
Hand stamp system in place of wristbands if not located.
Ice and bottled water.
Other ptdr goodies and soldering irons.
…Things volunteers should bring…
Attire to deal with the sun…it can burn you faster than you think lol.
Sunscreen and sunglasses.
If you have any special drink preferences to place in the color or snacks bring a backpack.
There is some goose poop out in the grass by us so possibly a change of shoes for after the event.
As noted we are outside in the short grass so nice shoes could get grass stained. I would highly advise no sandals and recommend a set of work boots/shoes if you have them.
Come and have FUN! Keep safety in thought and be EXCELLENT. Jim does a great job with ptdr and what it has come to stand for. The kids love it and is great for inspiration…also kids RARELY loose at ptdr lol
Lastly…watch out for flying pro mods we have a slight roller-coaster effect to the track. Also just watch your feet with obstacles and CORDS. Some are hooked up to track vitals so take it easy and don’t get tripped up in any of them
Forgot one thing… anyone taking pictures or video of the maker faire I highly recommend getting whatever action saved you can. It would be great to have a tiny post meeting get together and throw all footage on a drive. We could turn it into great promotional material!!!
I’ve got a PTDR T-shirt, blue, from 2015, that says Event Staff on the back.
