3D printer for FabLab

agreed with Nancy

I think it is more that the way volunteer orgs work is that say 20% is responsible for about 80% of the work, and those people are feeling overburdened as is, and are worried adding more will fall flat. I think the way to go is to grow into the problem, and solve it by gathering resources. Yeah, that means both work, and organization… But some people claim “cycles” cover about everything in volunteer groups… and I think the hive is on an upswing after a rough year or two. And I hate the “Its a cycle man… come back when it’s at a different level” approach. I’d rather tinker with the engine and get it firing on all cylinders. Maybe time for assistant wardens? Maintainance Monday?? Who knows… something will work.

I agree.
Perhaps a group project.
I’d be happy to start building a Delta printer.
I think we could make the place more “friendly”to new people.
I’ll also start a request for a mill/ lathe class.
We can do some amazing things.

Brad

they are on the auction site fairly often. mike really likes his flashforge.

Might be nice if someone is going to bid on one or these to let others know so they don’t both bid on it at the same time!

I am going to be bidding on https://bid.bidfta.com/cgi-bin/mnlist.cgi?edwinmosesii1791/EM717681 and https://bid.bidfta.com/cgi-bin/mnlist.cgi?edwinmosesii1772/EM634911 , Thank you very much for posting these Tiff !!! If for some reason I do not ending up winning one of there If anyone knows someone selling a kit please let me know. Or Bill if you have any time down at the hive coming up could you help me with my polar that is acting up, the bed was unable to find home no matter what I did on it. I am so glad my nephew is loving this stuff and is able to concentrate on it especially. He is starting homeschooling in January and are just waiting on the current quarter to be over with. I ordered one of those little robotic kits that run on a car like platform to get him going with that. I am going to start asking around or if anyone knows of a lego league style robotics club that would accept a home schooled child please let me know. It is insane on how teachers allow bullying as they do not want to catch flak from the person or its parents doing the bullying.

I do not know if anyone has a file as I know people were 3d printing the pokemon balls, does anyone have a file for a pokemon card to laser engrave and cut out a Pikachu card or just a pokemons like Pikachus? I am going to 3d print him some stuff but if I did some stuff on the laser he would go nuts on Christmas. I have to go in for a chest x ray tomorrow as the bronchitis has come back for the 3rd time since surgery and won’t be at the meeting. Any files like this for the laser would be great and to make them around 15 to 20 inches. Have a good day everyone!

All,
I’d like to work the Delta printers over the break as well - good plan Tiffany!

Alas, we are short a few parts to make that work - but maybe clever folks can help fill in the blanks

See you tonight.

James

I will shoot my wife a message to find out the bidder number. I am at the dang hospital for test  .

I wont be available to do much building untill after new years however I would love to help out with whatever i can. While i do not think we should spend big money on one 3d printer, I have a feeling we could have a hell of a build party and multiple people get a more indepth what if and how to keep them running strong.

My wife is bidding on the i3 kit ending today
